Impressions of Public School on a Lifetime Homeschooler

This post is a photo journal assignment my 9th grader completed for a high school Language Arts assignment. This child was homeschooled from the beginning and did not go to public school until 9th grade. He is a energetic, extroverted, creative and fun loving kid. I say this lest the reader think he is just a bitter, rebellious kid who is critical of the world as a whole. I was shocked to find how he felt about the school system and the depth of his perception of the double talk that goes on inside the walls of our education system. It has been a shocking and short journey for us into the halls of this other culture. I would also like to add that he has never had any photography instruction, so don't expect any great visual work. However, the thoughts he articulated with the flow of his photos and captions are quite interesting.

Children are Controlled by the Administration
A photo essay

Yay, look at all those 20 Heroes of pope eternal, that’s a lot, right?

Nope, apparently, ADMINISTRATION is more important than inspiration.

In fact, the administration thinks they are so important they can tell us what to do and whom to remember.

We are still told that school is fun, do you ever look like that when you are in class?

Who here knows the definition of LIT MAG? I can say literary magazine and then you will know what I am talking about, and by the way doesn’t LIT stand for literature and not literary.

Where you are allowed to interact, only here, nowhere else.

“Hey! Do you want to go hang out in the math office after school?”
“Sure that sounds fun!!!”
Do you ever hear anyone having that conversation?
